After the recent retirement of Innovative Design’s founders, Mike Nicklas, FAIA and Gary Bailey, AIA; Brian Baewon Koh, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, and Louis Gerics, NCARB, AIA, took over leadership of Innovative Design. This week we are introducing two more leaders of ID who will strengthen our services.
MEET and GREET PASCALE and LAURA,
Pascale Rosemain Trebeau, DPLG, Senior Designer, Architecture and Interior
It all started with two words: “why not”. 22 years ago, seated at her dining room table in Toulouse, France, Pascale called Innovative Design for an internship in environmentally-sound architecture design. She knew she was calling the best office in this field of expertise. But she only spoke French. She was put on the line with Mike … and of the whole conversation, she only understood two words: “why not”. She decided to take the bet and considered he said yes. She showed up at the office a few weeks later… and that’s how it all started. Since that first day at the office, as a young French intern and alongside with Mike and Gary, Pascale developed expertise in sustainable design, daylit architecture, interior design, experiential design and 3-D modeling. And ID became a second family. As a registered architect in France and as Innovative Design’s Designer and Head Daylighting Analyst, she has been intensely involved with the Innovative Design team as well as alongside our consultants across the country in implementing superior daylighting strategies and energy saving measures into various scale projects. She also developed a local office, ARTEO Architecture Studio with co-owner B. DAMAGNEZ, on her home island of Martinique (French Caribbean) where she still practices. Pascale combines years of daylighting design experience with computer-based daylighting analysis tools to help implement superior daylit spaces as well as enhanced energy design solutions into the buildings she gets involved in. Pascale earned her National Degree of Architecture (Architecte DPLG) in 1996 at the Superior School of Architecture of Toulouse (ENSA Toulouse), France. Pascale is a Past Board member of the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association, a Past Vice-President of the Regional Board of Architects in Martinique and a Past Board member of FCAA – Federation of Caribbean Associations of Architects. Sailing and traveling the world with her husband and two children are among her top favorites. She also enjoys long walks, books, art and music.
Laura Padilla Bailey, Lead Interior Designer
Laura will be leading our Interior Architecture services in commercial, educational, and hospitality projects, as well as special projects. Her talent in interior design focuses on sustainable design. Her interior design philosophy is not just beautifying the space, she emphasizes selecting sustainable materials, including low carbon-footprint materials, color and lighting to provide psychological and visual comfort, and healthy, non-toxic furniture and casework. Such attention aligns with Innovative Design’s decades long sustainable design mission and will enhance our design services. Laura has a particular interest in remodeling existing spaces. Laura and Innovative Design have worked together for many years. She worked on Innovative Design’s projects in Nevada before relocating to North Carolina. Lauara and Innovative Design recently worked together to complete the Raleigh Union Station Mezzanine Office Fit up for Raleigh Transit Division’s new office, which led her to joining us. Laura comes to our firm with over thirty years of experience in interior architecture, construction, sustainability, and design-build. Through her belief in creating a better world, she creates projects based on her core belief in the heart of the spaces we design. Laura loves spending time outdoors, doing projects via Zoom with her grandson in Germany and traveling as often as possible.
